Pakistan Table Tennis Asian Games 2026
The 2026 Asian Games will be hosted by Japan. Matches will be played from September 19th to October 4th. Ahead of this major event, Pakistan has received some shocking news. Pakistan's top table tennis players have suffered a major setback just before the Asian Games.
The Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) has stated that players will have to bear their own travel and accommodation costs to participate in the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. This statement has caused disappointment and concern among the players.
Pakistani table tennis players learned of this during the two-day national trials in Lahore. When the players questioned the federation about their daily and travel allowances, the federation made its decision clear.
According to a PTI report, a Pakistani table tennis player, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed her anguish. The player stated that the federation had clearly stated that no expenses would be provided for participating in the trials. Furthermore, any players selected for the team will have to make their own arrangements for airfare and accommodation, which costs $50 per day.
He added, "All the players protested. Then a senior official from the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) told the players that they should all be happy that the trials were being held."
Looking at the table tennis history of Pakistani players, Pakistan has never won a medal at the Asian Games or Asian Championships. This sport is dominated by strong Asian nations like Malaysia, China, South Korea, and India.
