A post on the social media platform X claimed that Rishabh had turned down a package of approximately ₹8.5 crore (approximately ₹8.5 crore) from Meta. After working at Meta for just a few days, he is now working for his own AI startup. Rishabh himself responded to the viral post, writing that Meta's offer was much larger than the amount stated in the post.

Who is Rishabh Agarwal?

Rishabh is a well-known AI researcher. After securing AIR 33 in the JEE, he studied Computer Science at IIT Bombay. From there, he moved to Canada for further studies. He completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Mila, an AI research institute in Montreal, Canada. Subsequently, he worked with major companies in the field of AI, including Google Brain, Google DeepMind, Waymo, and Meta Superintelligence Labs. He also taught at McGill University for a period. Rishabh has conducted research on reinforcement learning and large language models. He also worked on Google's Gemma and Gemini AI models.

Joined Meta last year

Rishabh started working with Meta's Superintelligence Lab in April of last year, but resigned after just five months. Explaining his decision, he wrote that after 7.5 years of working with Google Brain, DeepMind, and Meta, he wanted to take a different kind of risk. Rishabh subsequently joined Periodic Labs as a founding member. Jeff Bezos and Nvidia are funding this startup.
