WhatsApp Pay's usage is steadily increasing, and people are increasingly using it to make payments, but other UPI platforms still have an edge. The statistics are as follows.

  • In July 2026, Google Pay recorded 7.64 billion transactions.
  • Whereas Paytm made 1.90 billion transactions.
  • Apart from this, PhonePe recorded 10.85 billion UPI transactions.

WhatsApp Pay usage increased.

It's worth noting that 167.8 million UPI transactions were made through Meta's payment service, WhatsApp Pay, in July 2026. The total amount of these payments was approximately ₹12,957 crore. This means that WhatsApp is no longer limited to chatting and sending photos, but is also being used for payments.

How to use WhatsApp Pay

If you want to send money through WhatsApp Pay, then first you have to link your bank account with the app.

  • For this, first open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
  • Then select the payment option.
  • After this select Add New Payment Method.
  • Then select your bank from the list.
  • Then verify through SMS from the mobile number registered with the bank.
  • Then finally set UPI PIN.

  • Open the chat of the person you want to send money to.
  • Then you will see the ₹ icon, tap on it.
  • Later choose the payment option.
  • Enter the amount of money you want to send.
  • After this enter UPI PIN.
  • You will get confirmation in the chat as soon as the payment is made.
