In a heartfelt tribute to Team India captain Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) inaugurated a dedicated stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium on May 16. This rare honor recognizes Rohit’s remarkable 18-year contribution to Indian cricket, including historic wins in the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy.
The inauguration ceremony was made even more emotional as Rohit’s parents had the honor of pressing the button to unveil the stand, instead of the cricketer himself. His wife, along with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Sharad Pawar, and MCA President Ajinkya Naik, were present to celebrate the moment.
Originally planned during IPL 2025, the ceremony was postponed due to the tournament’s disruption but has now finally been fulfilled—cementing Rohit Sharma’s legacy at the very stadium where he has delivered countless memorable performances.
