Vimi's Painful Life: The glitz of Bollywood is as beautiful from outside as it is scary from inside. There are many stars in the industry who became superstars overnight but there are some stars whose career was ruined in such a way that they were lost in the darkness of oblivion. Today we are going to tell you about the famous actress of our time, Vimi.
There used to be lines of directors outside the house

The story of actress Vimi and her husband is a sad and untold story of Indian cinema. Vimi used to be the most popular and richest actress of the 1970s. Producers used to line up outside her house to cast her in their films. Born in Jalandhar city of Punjab, Vimi's full name was Vimlesh Wadhwa. When she entered the Bollywood industry, she was already married. She married Calcutta's famous industrialist Shivraj Agarwal, with whom she had two children.
The family evicted him from the property
Her husband was a rich businessman and so he used to go to parties every now and then. One day, music director Ravi saw Vimi at a party and asked her to work in films. Vimi talked to her husband about this and said yes. The music director arranged a meeting between Vimi and B.R. Chopra, after which she signed the film 'Humraaz'. But when her in-laws came to know about this, they refused but her husband was adamant. After this, Vimi's husband decided to leave the house and the family members also broke all relations by evicting him from the property. After this, Vimi entered the film world.
She became a star overnight with her first film
Vimi became an overnight star with Humraaz released in 1967. After this she acted in many hit films. She proved her acting skills in films like “Love in Tokyo”, “Raaton Ki Dhund”, “Gumrah”, and “Dil Ki Raahein”. She also appeared in the National Award winning film ‘Nanak Naam Jahaz Ka’ with Prithviraj Kapoor. But her success was only for a few moments.
Career ruined due to husband's interference
Her husband started keeping track of Vimi's films. She herself would choose projects for her, due to which her career started getting ruined. She had signed 3 films with BR Chopra. One day she had to go for an outdoor shoot for a scene but her husband refused. Chopra sahab came to her house to convince her but they had an argument. Finally, fed up, BR Chopra cancelled all contracts with Vimi.
Films stopped coming, Vimmi drowned in debt
After the dispute with B.R. Chopra, everyone refused to work with Vimi. About 10 of her films were released, most of which flopped. Due to this, Vimi was branded as a flop actress. Slowly, all her savings were exhausted. The textile company she had opened in Kolkata to run the house also shut down. After this, Vimi drowned in heavy debt. On the other hand, her husband would beat Vimi after drinking alcohol and ask for money. For money, Vimi's husband also pressured her to work in some B and C-grade films, but she did not agree. Her husband's attitude was getting worse. Meanwhile, Vimi met a producer named Jolly, who promised to get her work. Slowly, both of them fell in love with each other and Vimi left her husband's house and started living with Jolly. While living with Jolly, Vimi became addicted to alcohol.
Alcohol ruined Vimmi's life
After a few days, Vimmi sent a notice to her husband. Vimmi had to go to the court to get a divorce. Then she met music composer Ravi, who had got her work in films. There she told Ravi the whole story while crying. Ravi consoled her and said that he would talk to her husband. Then Ravi went on a world tour for a music concert and by the time he returned, Vimmi had died.
Jolly used to force them into prostitution
After some time, Vimmi and Jolly ran out of money. In such a situation, Jolly started forcing Vimmi to do prostitution. Vimmi's close friend Krishna herself confirmed this during an interview. Fed up with Jolly, one day Vimmi left him too and started living alone.
She was admitted in the general ward and died due to alcohol
However, due to alcohol, Vimi's liver got damaged and she was admitted to the hospital but she did not have money for treatment and neither did she have any relatives. When her condition worsened, Vimi contacted Jolly, after which he got Vimi admitted to the general ward of Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai but after this he did not even come to meet her. Finally, on 22 August 1977, Vimi died. The hospital staff asked Jolly to take the dead body.
Vimi's dead body was taken to the crematorium on a cart
When Jolly reached the hospital, he did not even have money for an ambulance. A few hours later, Jolly borrowed a cart from a tea vendor standing outside the hospital and took Vimmi's body to the crematorium. When the media got wind of this, they spread the news. Despite this, only 9 people attended Vimmi's funeral, including producer Tejnath Jar and S.D. Narang's brother.
The friend had said – death is a blessing for him
Vimmi's close friend Krishna had told in an interview that Vimmi's death was a pain reliever for him. Death was much better for him than the painful conditions in which Vimmi had been living her life.
