Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in the history of the ODI World Cup. He has 2,278 runs in 45 World Cup matches, making him the only batsman to have scored 2,000 or more runs in the World Cup. Virat Kohli is in second place with 1,795 runs. If Virat plays in the 2027 World Cup, he will need to score at least 484 more runs to break Sachin's record.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is in third place, and Rohit Sharma is fourth. Rohit Sharma is the batsman with the most centuries in World Cup history. He has scored seven centuries in World Cups, a world record in itself.
