Anthropic AI: Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way we work. The use of AI, especially in office-related tasks, is constantly increasing. However, it is still difficult to understand how significant its impact will be on the job market in the future
To understand this, AI company Anthropic has developed a new system through which an attempt is being made to find out which jobs can be most affected due to AI.
How this study was conducted
In this research, economists Maxim Massenkoff and Peter McCrory developed a unique index. The purpose of this index is to understand how many tasks in different professions could be easily performed by large language models, or AI systems. The researchers analyzed job tasks and real-world AI tools. If a profession had a high number of tasks that AI already performs or could easily perform, that profession was considered at greater risk of automation.
These jobs could be most affected
According to the report, many technology-related jobs could be most impacted by AI. Programming-related professions are particularly high on this list. The study found that nearly three-quarters of programmers' daily tasks could be handled by AI systems.
Apart from this, customer service employees, data entry employees and medical record handling experts are also among the professions which can be more affected by AI.
Some professions are still considered safe
However, not all jobs will be affected by AI. The report states that AI's role is limited in jobs that require physical labor and human presence. For example, jobs like cooks, lifeguards, and dishwashers are currently considered largely safe from automation.
Are jobs starting to disappear due to AI?
While concerns about job losses due to AI are growing, this study has yet to find any concrete evidence that widespread job losses have already begun. However, since the introduction of the AI tool ChatGPT, there has been a slight shift in unemployment figures between jobs affected by AI and those less affected.
Changes in recruitment trends are visible
The researchers also found that hiring patterns are beginning to shift slightly. Jobs appear to be slowing down, particularly for younger candidates. Hiring for candidates aged 22 to 25 has shown signs of a decline, particularly in sectors where AI tools can handle certain tasks.
