After poor performance, Ishant has now suffered another big blow. He has been banned for 25 percent of the match fee. Along with this, he has also been given a demerit point. Ishant admitted his mistake after which the referee has taken this action against him. In a statement issued by the IPL, it was said that Ishant has violated Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct. This article relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during the match". This was a Level 1 offense, which Ishant admitted and accepted the match referee's punishment.

Ishant has been given a chance by GT in three matches this season, but he has been able to take only one wicket. In these three matches, he has conceded 97 runs while bowling eight overs and his economy has been more than 12. He was brought in as an impact player against Mumbai Indians and conceded 17 runs in two overs without taking a wicket.
