Ishant Sharma fined after SRH vs GT match: Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets last night in IPL 2025. All the players performed very well in this match for GT but veteran Ishant Sharma conceded 53 runs in his four overs. Ishant did not get any wicket in this match. After poor performance, Ishant has now suffered another big blow. He has been banned for 25 percent of the match fee. Along with this, he has also been given a demerit point. Ishant admitted his mistake after which the referee has taken this action against him. In a statement issued by the IPL, it was said that Ishant has violated Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct. This article relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during the match". This was a Level 1 offense, which Ishant admitted and accepted the match referee's punishment.
Ishant has been given a chance by GT in three matches this season, but he has been able to take only one wicket. In these three matches, he has conceded 97 runs while bowling eight overs and his economy has been more than 12. He was brought in as an impact player against Mumbai Indians and conceded 17 runs in two overs without taking a wicket. After this, he was made a part of the playing 11 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, this time his two overs conceded 27 runs, but he also took the big wicket of Rajat Patidar.
GT's other fast bowlers performed brilliantly against SRH, but Ishant proved to be very expensive. Ishant gave about 33 percent of the runs that SRH scored. Despite proving to be expensive continuously, Shubman Gill expressed confidence in Ishant and allowed him to complete his quota. However, the last over he bowled turned out to be the most expensive over of the innings.
