Mumbai Cricket Association had installed a special statue of Sachin Tendulkar in this historic stadium two years ago. Then last year, the seat where the ball fell after Dhoni's last six in the 2011 World Cup final was made a special spot. Now MCA has made this stadium even more special.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma has given many great moments to Indian cricket. For the last 18 years, Rohit has played an important role in increasing India's pride in world cricket. At a time when Rohit is slowly moving towards the last stage of his career, he has received an honor which has been received by selected players not only in India but also in world cricket. Mumbai Cricket Association has dedicated a stand of the historic Wankhede Stadium to the Hitman. Rohit Sharma stand was inaugurated in a special program at Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 16.

On Friday, May 16, the Rohit Sharma stand was inaugurated in a special program at the Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had announced a few days ago that they wanted to honor Team India captain Rohit Sharma, who won the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, in this way. MCA was planning to do this during the IPL 2025 match but the tournament had to be stopped midway, due to which it was postponed. Now MCA has finally done it.

Inaugurated by parents

On Friday, in a special program at the Wankhede Stadium, MCA inaugurated the stand named after Rohit. During this, Rohit was accompanied by his wife and parents. Along with this, many officials and fans including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former MCA President Sharad Pawar, current MCA President Ajinkya Naik were also present. The special thing is that the button that was to be pressed to open the stand was not pressed by Rohit himself but this auspicious work was completed by the hands of his parents.

Rohit called this honor very special and said that it will be a completely different feeling for him when he will play on this ground again. Team India's ODI captain said, "I have retired from two formats but am still playing one format. So getting such an honor while playing now is very special in itself. Now on the 21st, when I will play for Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals, it will be very special to see my name on the stand."

3 wonders in 3 years at Wankhede Stadium

Apart from Rohit, the stand of former Indian captain Ajit Wadekar was also dedicated in this program. Sharad Pawar stand was also inaugurated. Pawar was the president of MCA for a long time and from here he also became the President of BCCI. It was during his tenure that the headquarters of BCCI shifted from Kolkata to Mumbai. In the last 3 years, MCA has added a special aspect to the stadium for the third consecutive time. In 2023, the statue of Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled in this stadium. Then in 2024, special status was given to the seat where the ball fell after MS Dhoni hit the winning six in the World Cup 2011 final.
