Rajasthan Weather Today: Monsoon Weakens Despite 14% Excess Rainfall; Heat and Humidity Continue Across Many Districts

Rajasthan Weather Update: Although Rajasthan has received around 14% more rainfall than normal so far this monsoon season, residents across several districts are still experiencing hot and humid conditions. A slowdown in monsoon activity has reduced rainfall over many parts of the state, allowing daytime temperatures to rise once again. While isolated areas witnessed heavy showers on Friday, much of Rajasthan remained warm with limited cloud cover.

According to the latest weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in several districts on Saturday, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. Authorities have also advised people to remain alert during thunderstorms due to the possibility of lightning.

Monsoon Activity Loses Momentum Across Rajasthan

The southwest monsoon has temporarily weakened over Rajasthan, resulting in uneven rainfall distribution across the state. While some districts continued to receive moderate to heavy showers, many others experienced dry weather, causing temperatures to climb.

On Friday, Sri Ganganagar recorded heavy rainfall during the afternoon, while Alwar received intense showers during the evening hours. In contrast, Jaipur witnessed mostly clear skies throughout the day, contributing to warmer weather and increasing humidity levels.

Despite the recent slowdown, Rajasthan has received approximately 100.3 mm of average rainfall during the current monsoon season, which remains above the seasonal average.

IMD Issues Rain Forecast for Nine Districts

The weather department has forecast rainfall in several parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan over the next 24 hours.

Districts likely to receive rain include:

  • Sri Ganganagar
  • Hanumangarh
  • Churu
  • Jhunjhunu
  • Kotputli-Behror
  • Alwar
  • Deeg
  • Bharatpur
  • Dholpur

Some locations may witness moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 km/h, especially during thunderstorms.

Residents have been advised to stay indoors during lightning activity, avoid open fields, and exercise caution while traveling in adverse weather conditions.

Lightning Incident Highlights Weather Risks

The changing weather pattern has also brought safety concerns. In Khairthal-Tijara district, a lightning strike claimed the life of one young man, while another person sustained serious injuries.

Officials continue to urge people to avoid taking shelter under trees or remaining in open areas during thunderstorms, as lightning incidents often increase during active monsoon conditions.

Weather Outlook

Meteorologists expect localized rainfall activity to continue over parts of Rajasthan during the coming days. However, the monsoon is likely to remain uneven, with some districts receiving rain while others experience dry and warm conditions.

People living in areas under thunderstorm alerts should monitor official weather updates and follow safety advisories, particularly during periods of lightning and strong winds. Farmers, commuters, and residents in low-lying areas are also encouraged to stay informed as weather conditions may change rapidly during the active monsoon season.
