Monsoon Activity Loses Momentum Across Rajasthan

The southwest monsoon has temporarily weakened over Rajasthan, resulting in uneven rainfall distribution across the state. While some districts continued to receive moderate to heavy showers, many others experienced dry weather, causing temperatures to climb.

On Friday, Sri Ganganagar recorded heavy rainfall during the afternoon, while Alwar received intense showers during the evening hours. In contrast, Jaipur witnessed mostly clear skies throughout the day, contributing to warmer weather and increasing humidity levels.

Despite the recent slowdown, Rajasthan has received approximately 100.3 mm of average rainfall during the current monsoon season, which remains above the seasonal average.

The weather department has forecast rainfall in several parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan over the next 24 hours.

The changing weather pattern has also brought safety concerns. In Khairthal-Tijara district, a lightning strike claimed the life of one young man, while another person sustained serious injuries.

Officials continue to urge people to avoid taking shelter under trees or remaining in open areas during thunderstorms, as lightning incidents often increase during active monsoon conditions.
