Punjab Assembly Session: Congress has objected to the special session of the Punjab Assembly. Congress says the government has made a mockery of the session.

The Punjab government has called a special session of the state assembly on Tuesday to discuss the central government's decision to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( MGNREGA ). The central government has renamed the scheme "Vikas Bharat - Rozgar evam Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) ( VB-GRAM-G) ," which is being described as an anti-poor move. This special session will demand the repeal of the changes made to the MNREGA Act . A resolution will also be presented against the central government. However, there will be no question hour or zero hour in this session.
Ahead of this session, the Indian National Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party have clashed. While the Congress party claims this session is a joke, the Aam Aadmi Party claims it will introduce resolutions against the central government's legislation.
What did Bajwa say on the Punjab Assembly session?
Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, said, "The worst thing about this government is that it turns every session into a so-called special session, yet they yield no results. Each session yields zero results. What's even more saddening is that the regular sessions, which are required by the Constitution, are not being held properly. The Speaker himself previously promised to hold three mandatory sessions every 120 days, but in reality, this government barely manages to hold 7-8 working days in total. Today's meeting, too, has been called a special session, which yielded no meaningful results."
Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said, "This session has been reduced to a mockery. Traditionally, there used to be three large sessions, but the Aam Aadmi Party government has reduced them to very short meetings, preventing any meaningful debate. Everything is being passed forcefully, and the Speaker is clearly biased. The resolution on MGNREGA is not an amendment, but a direct attack on the federal structure. This government has reduced the assembly proceedings to a mockery, with the shortest sessions in history during its tenure."
