Speaking at the event, ILBS Vice Chancellor Dr. S.K. Sarin stated that ILBS is the world's only liver university and that in 2025, it saw 160,000 patients, which is more than the number of patients seen in many European countries. Dr. Sarin stated that 1,392 liver transplants have been successfully performed at the institute so far, including 69 patients from the EWS category. Dr. Sarin also stated that one in three people in the country suffers from fatty liver, and therefore, liver transplants should be included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, just like kidney transplants.
