Now, you can view apps on the Google Play Store, along with smartphones and other devices. Google has launched a new Shop devices feature in India. Learn where to find this feature and how it works.
Google Play Store Shop Devices Feature
Until now, the mention of the Google Play Store often brought to mind downloading or updating apps on your mobile phone, but now it also offers a way to purchase phones. Google has added a new Shop devices feature to the Play Store, allowing users to view the company's hardware products and proceed with purchase.
This feature is available in some markets including India, currently visible on Google Pixel and some Samsung devices, however through this feature payment is not made directly on Play Store, instead after selecting the product the user reaches Google Store, where the purchase process can be completed.
Where will you find the Shop devices feature in Google Play Store?
The new Shop devices feature appears in the Play Store's account switcher. Users can tap on this feature to see a list of available devices. Selecting a product from here opens the Google Store, where you can view its details, choose available configurations, and make a payment. Currently, products are listed at their standard prices. No special discounts are currently being offered.
Will Google extend this feature further?
Google's support page also mentions the ability to purchase hardware through the Play Store. According to this, some eligible Google and Samsung products available on the Google Store may appear in the Play Store, although the company has not yet clarified whether more products will be added to the Shop devices section. This feature also gives users the option to view Google devices along with apps on the Play Store. For purchases, they will have to visit the Google Store.
