Mumbai Airport to see highest passenger traffic ever in 2025, record 55.5 million last year

According to MIAL, January 2025 was the busiest month, with around 5 million passengers (both arrivals and departures) using the airport.

Mumbai Airport Record Number of Traffic: Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) recorded a slight but steady increase in passenger traffic in the year 2025. According to Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), a total of 55.5 million passengers used the airport in 2025, which is 1.3 percent more than 54.8 million passengers in 2024. The total passengers included 39.2 million domestic and over 16.3 million international passengers. MIAL said that passenger traffic remained good throughout the year due to strong demand and busy travel period.

 

According to MIAL, January 2025 was the busiest month, with nearly 5 million passengers (both arrivals and departures) using the airport. This was followed by November, which saw 4.9 million passengers. Notably, the airport recorded three peak passenger traffic days in November. Of these, November 29th was the busiest, with 175,925 passengers using CSMIA in a single day, setting an all-time record.

 

The October-December quarter of FY 2024-25 was the airport's busiest, handling 14.3 million passengers. In 2025, CSMIA handled a total of 331,011 flights, including 238,870 domestic and 92,141 international flights. Another record was set on November 21st, when 1,036 flights (arrivals and departures combined) were operated in a single day, the highest ever.

 

MIAL also stated that several new international destinations were added in 2025 as part of its network expansion. These include Almaty, Amman, Bali (Denpasar), Copenhagen, Fujairah, Krabi, Manchester, and Tbilisi. The addition of these new flights not only strengthens international connectivity but also broadens Mumbai Airport's global reach.
