The Dimensity 9600 Pro features a total of 8 CPU cores, divided into 2 prime, 3 performance, and 3 efficiency cores. Two prime cores run at speeds of up to 4.55GHz, three performance cores at 4.35GHz, and three efficiency cores at up to 3.10GHz. The chip features a new cache architecture, along with support for LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage. According to MediaTek, single-core performance has improved by 17 percent and multi-core performance by 15 percent compared to the previous generation, while multi-core power consumption has decreased by 61 percent.

What is special about AI?

The new chip features a dedicated NPU, designed to handle more complex generative AI tasks on phones. The company says the new NPU's prompt processing capability is 51 percent better than the previous generation. The chip also features the Agentic AI Engine, which is designed to process on-device AI models with up to 30 billion parameters.

Big upgrade in gaming and graphics too

For graphics, it features the G2 Ultra NX GPU. According to MediaTek, it delivers up to 27 percent higher peak performance, 24 percent lower power consumption, and 18 percent faster Ray Tracing compared to the previous model. It also includes a third-generation Ray Tracing Engine and is said to support mobile gaming at up to 185fps.

Also special in camera and video

The Dimensity 9600 Pro features an Imagiq 1290 ISP and AI Imaging Fusion Architecture. It supports 60fps Motion Capture and 4K-240fps Native Ultra Slow Motion Video. The company has also detailed its GPU with 10MB System Cache and new Imaging Engines.

Dimensity 9600M also launched.

MediaTek also introduced the Dimensity 9600M, built on a 3nm process. It features the Agentic AI Engine, HyperEngine Gaming Optimization, and dedicated ISP support. It aims to bring flagship phone features and capabilities to more smartphone users.
