Kumaraswamy's statement sparks controversy

He further said, "What can you expect from Sonia Gandhi? Is she from our country? She married and settled here. But she has Italian blood running in her veins." Kumaraswamy also said that it was pointless to discuss why Sonia Gandhi was behaving this way. He said that the people of the country could see the truth.

Meanwhile, BJP MP and senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad targeted the Congress party, accusing it of adopting a double standard regarding the national anthem and the legacy of the freedom movement. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad also targeted Sonia Gandhi in a press conference at the Congress headquarters.

BJP attacks Sonia

Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that during the event, it appeared as if Sonia Gandhi was objecting to the singing of the entire Vande Mataram. However, the Congress party later issued a different explanation. Ravi Shankar Prasad rejected the explanation given by the Congress media chief, saying that the argument that Sonia Gandhi was merely arranging a chair for Kharge was completely false.

The BJP MPs then referred to a Congress event in Goa. They said that only two verses of Vande Mataram were sung there. Prasad linked this to the Congress's alleged ideology and attitude, questioning the party's viewpoint on the national anthem.

He said that if Congress continues to engage in such activities, it should stop claiming a monopoly on India's freedom movement. According to Prasad, Vande Mataram has been a national song that played a crucial role in the country's freedom movement, and its historical role should not be viewed from a political perspective. Ravi Shankar Prasad also responded to Mallikarjun Kharge's questions questioning the role of BJP leaders in the freedom movement.
