Is the BJP going to give Amit Malviya more responsibility? Understand the equation.

Following the reshuffle in the BJP's national organisation, Amit Malviya has been removed from the post of head of the National IT and Social Media Department.

BJP leader Amit Malviya

Following a major reshuffle within t01Closehe Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) national organization, the most debated topic is the role of Amit Malviya. Malviya, who led the party's IT and social media systems for nearly 11 years, has been removed from the position of head of the national IT cell and replaced by Deepak Mhaske of Chhattisgarh.

However, Malviya has only been removed from one organizational post. The party has not officially announced his next role or any new responsibilities. This is why political circles are now buzzing that the party may give him another important responsibility in view of the upcoming elections.

Malviya had dual responsibility in the Bengal elections.

Amit Malviya held two key responsibilities for the BJP during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. He served as the co-in-charge of West Bengal and the head of the party's national IT and social media department. Malviya was first appointed co-in-charge of West Bengal in 2020, ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections. He continued in this role for the 2026 elections.

She spent a long time on the ground in Bengal, highlighting law and order, women's safety, and other political issues in the party's campaign against the Trinamool Congress government. Her other major role was managing the BJP's digital campaign. Her responsibilities included integrating the social media narrative, digital campaigns, and election strategy online and on the ground.

Deepak Mhaske is now in charge of the IT cell.

The BJP has now appointed Deepak Mhaske, replacing Amit Malviya, as the head of the national IT and social media department. Mhaske hails from Chhattisgarh and has long been associated with the BJP's IT and social media organization. He has been involved in digital campaigns in various assembly elections, and is considered a leader with a strong understanding of electoral data and strategy. Mhaske's appointment is being seen as part of an organizational overhaul within the new team of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. The party's new national team includes a large number of new faces.

So can Amit Malviya get another big responsibility?

This is the most important question of this entire change. The BJP has not yet announced Amit Malviya's new responsibilities, so it would be inaccurate to assume any position has been finalized. However, given his political and electoral utility amid the organizational changes, the possibility of a new role for him cannot be ruled out.

Malviya has long been a prominent face of the BJP's digital politics. He headed the National IT Cell since 2015. He subsequently played a key role in making social media a key part of the BJP's election campaign. He also has a long-standing organizational role in Bengal. Therefore, the party has the option of leveraging his experience in other electoral, organizational, or strategic roles.

The 2027 elections will also be monitored.

The BJP is facing crucial assembly elections in several states (Goa, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh) next year. Experienced organizational leaders will play a crucial role in this situation. Malviya's experience in election strategy, digital narrative, and organizational campaigns could be useful for the party.

This is why his departure from the IT cell is currently being seen as the beginning of a possible change of responsibility, rather than a termination. However, this is political speculation, and the BJP has not yet confirmed any such new appointment.
