India’s Retaliation Sparks Panic in Pakistan, PSL 2025 Matches Shifted to Karachi; Rawalpindi Clash Postponed

Tensions along the India-Pakistan border have spilled over into the world of cricket. Following India’s strong counter-offensive—Operation Sindoor—in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, panic has gripped Pakistan, prompting a major shakeup in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season.

PSL Matches Moved Amid Security Concerns

In an emergency meeting, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to relocate all remaining PSL Season 10 matches to Karachi, citing rising security threats. A match scheduled for May 8 between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium has been postponed and will be rescheduled later.

Drone Strikes Damage Rawalpindi Stadium

As part of Pakistan’s attempted retaliation on the night of May 7-8, drone and missile strikes targeted Indian military installations across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. According to an official Indian government release, all attempted attacks were successfully intercepted.

India’s response was swift. Drone strikes were launched at strategic locations in Pakistan and PoK, with one drone reportedly hitting Rawalpindi’s Pindi Stadium, causing structural damage. The incident sent shockwaves through PCB officials, especially since a high-profile PSL match was set to be played there the same evening.

IPL Match Also Affected

The ripple effect of rising Indo-Pak tensions has reached the Indian Premier League as well. The Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match originally scheduled for May 11 in Dharamsala has now been shifted to Ahmedabad, citing precautionary security measures.

As the situation remains tense, cricketing bodies in both nations are on high alert, with fixture adjustments being made to ensure player and spectator safety.
