The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup. This cricket extravaganza will begin on October 2, 2027, with the final scheduled for November 21. The Indian team will play its first match in the tournament against Australia on October 7. The ICC announced the schedule for this mega event during a grand ceremony in Cape Town.

The 2027 ODI World Cup will see a match between India and Pakistan on October 10th. Both countries have been placed in the same group. India's first match in the tournament will be against Australia, which will be played in Cape Town on October 7th. Team India will then face Pakistan in Johannesburg on October 10th. India will face Afghanistan in Centurion on October 14th. India will play against the team from Qualifier A on October 17th and against Zimbabwe on October 24th.

 

The 2027 ODI World Cup will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. A total of 12 venues will host all World Cup matches: eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe, and one in Namibia. A total of 14 teams will participate in the tournament, and a total of 57 matches will be played.

 

India-Pakistan in the same group

The format of the 2027 World Cup is unique and interesting. Two teams will be eliminated early on. After this, 12 teams will compete for the trophy. These 12 teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of Afghanistan, Australia, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Qualifier A. Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Qualifier B.

10 teams qualified, West Indies not included

A total of 10 teams have qualified for the ICC 2027 ODI World Cup so far. The West Indies are not included in this list. India, Pakistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have qualified directly based on the ICC ODI rankings. South Africa and Zimbabwe have received direct entry into the tournament as host countries. Namibia is also a co-host, but due to not being a full member of the ICC, it has not received direct entry. The remaining four teams will qualify through a qualifier round. The West Indies will also play in a qualifier round.
