How to make KFC-like chicken fries?

The mere mention of fried chicken makes many people's mouths water. The chicken sold outside is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making it taste even more special. If you want to make similar chicken at home, you don't need many ingredients. With a few simple spices and the right preparation, you can make crispy fried chicken at home. So, let's learn how to make it easily.

First, marinate the chicken.

For this, wash the chicken pieces thoroughly and place them in a large bowl. Add salt, red chili powder, black pepper, ginger-garlic paste, a little lemon juice, and yogurt, and mix well. Each piece of chicken should be thoroughly coated with the spices. Let it marinate for at least 1 to 2 hours so that the flavors of the spices can penetrate the chicken.

Prepare the mixture for the crispy coating.

Now, in a separate bowl, combine flour with cornflour, salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and a little oregano or mixed herbs. Meanwhile, beat an egg in another bowl. Dip the marinated chicken pieces first in the egg, then in the flour mixture, and coat thoroughly. For a crispier crust, you can coat the chicken again with the egg and flour.

Now fry the chicken in hot oil.

Pour enough oil into a pan and heat it over medium heat. The oil should not be too hot, otherwise, the outer layer may burn quickly, leaving the chicken inside uncooked. Slowly add the coated chicken pieces to the oil and fry over medium heat until golden and crispy. Avoid adding too many pieces at once; this can lower the oil temperature, and the chicken will not be as crispy.

Keep this in mind

After frying the chicken, instead of placing it directly on a plate, place it on a wire rack or paper towel to drain off excess oil. If you prefer extra crispy chicken, let it rest for a few minutes after frying to help the coating set better. Then, serve it hot with tomato sauce, mayonnaise, or a dip of your choice.
