New rules for Hajj 2026

Hajj 2026: Mecca holds immense spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. As the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the site of the Kaaba, Islam's most important site, it is also a center of the Islamic faith. Every year, pilgrims travel for Hajj and Umrah. Registration for these pilgrimages has now begun in Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that Saudi citizens and expatriates with valid residence permits can now start selecting and booking Hajj packages through the Nusuk platform, the Kingdom's official digital portal for pilgrimage services.

Domestic pilgrims who have already registered their details can now review available packages and easily make their bookings through the Nusuk mobile application or the official website. According to the ministry, all processes are being conducted electronically.

Applicants can now easily browse through various package options, select their preferred package, and generate a booking bill.
They can then make payment through Saudi Arabia's SADAD electronic payment system.

In response to the growing demand, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has implemented strict payment rules. Pilgrims must make payments within 72 hours of the issuance of the booking invoice. These rules will remain in effect until May 14, or Dhul Qada 27.

Importance of Hajj in Islam?

Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is a once-in-a-lifetime obligation for all able Muslims. Held annually in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the Hajj is a deeply spiritual journey attended by millions of Muslim pilgrims from around the world.

The pilgrimage consists of several sacred rituals lasting for 5 days, including Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba), Sa'i (walking between Safa and Marwa hills) and prayers at Mount Arafat.

The pilgrimage is physically demanding, with pilgrims walking up to 25 kilometers daily. Therefore, special rules apply for those aged 65 and over. They must be accompanied by a healthy companion, who must be between 18 and 60 years old.
