Gold Silver Rate 21 August 2026: Gold prices have risen sharply in the bullion market. Both gold and silver have shocked people early this morning. How much did gold become expensive?
Yesterday, on August 20th, the price of 24-carat pure gold was ₹1,58,000 per 10 grams, which has increased by ₹4,300 to ₹1,62,000 today. Today is the most expensive gold price in the last three months. Previously, on May 26th, 24-carat gold was almost as expensive, trading at ₹1,62,400 per 10 grams.
How much did silver become expensive?
Silver is also experiencing a similar surge. Today, pure silver prices have risen from ₹2,35,000 per kilogram to ₹2,45,000 per kilogram, representing a direct increase of ₹10,000. Today, silver is the most expensive in the last seven weeks. Previously, silver prices reached this high on July 3rd, reaching ₹2,45,000 per kilogram.
Why did gold and silver become expensive?
Gold prices today hovered near their highest level in more than two months, driven by a sharp decline in the US dollar and bond yields. Gold prices fell $66.31 to $4,456.72 per ounce, and silver fell nearly two percent to $65.82 per ounce. Spot gold prices fell to $4,450 per ounce after US President Donald Trump announced new economic sanctions on Iran, driven by a more than two percent increase in crude oil prices.
