Friends, in today's modern era, ordering food online has become a common occurrence—and a very convenient one at that. If you happen to be one of the many people who do this, we have an important update for you: Zomato has decided to increase its platform fees. This means that customers will now have to pay slightly more for every order. Let's dive into the full details.
**Platform Fees Increased**
The platform fee has been hiked by ₹2.40 per order. Previously, customers were charged ₹12.50 (excluding GST) for every order; however, this fee has now been raised to ₹14.90. This additional charge will apply to every order, regardless of whether you order occasionally or multiple times a day.
**Previous Price Hikes**
This is not the first time the company has increased its platform fees. The last hike occurred in September 2025, when the company revised its charges for users across several cities.
**Competition with Swiggy**
Swiggy, the other major food delivery company, is currently charging a platform fee of approximately ₹14.99 per order (inclusive of taxes). Both companies typically adopt similar pricing strategies; consequently, if one platform makes a change to its platform fees, the other often follows suit.

**Rapido Enters the Food Delivery Market**
The food delivery sector is witnessing the emergence of a new competitor. The ride-hailing platform Rapido has recently ventured into the food delivery business in Bengaluru with the launch of its new service, "Only." The company has stated that, aside from the standard delivery fee, no additional charges will be levied on either customers or restaurants.
Potential Reasons for Price Increases
A primary reason for the rise in platform fees could be the rising cost of crude oil, which directly impacts delivery costs. Higher fuel prices can affect the earnings of delivery partners as well as the platform's operational expenses.
