Gas cylinder prices have been reduced by Rs 600; know the reason for the discount along with the latest rates.
In rural areas, gas agencies are offering discounts of up to ₹600 on 19-kg commercial gas cylinders. This has brought significant relief to businesses. However, domestic LPG prices have not decreased.
There is no change in the price of LPG cylinders today.
During the initial days of the Iran-US war in April-May, the government restricted the supply of commercial LPG. However, today, the availability of commercial cylinders in the market has become completely normal and accessible. Gas agencies are now selling commercial cylinders at a discount. Yes, this is absolutely true.
Where can I get the discount?
A strange trend is being observed in commercial LPG prices in rural areas of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. Some distributors are selling 19-kg cylinders at prices significantly lower than the government-approved rates.
According to a News18 report, some gas agencies in rural Uttar Pradesh are selling commercial LPG cylinders for approximately 200 to 600 rupees less than the official price. In Kushinagar, the official rate for a 19-kg commercial cylinder is approximately 2,946 rupees, while some customers are getting it for 2,400 to 2,700 rupees.
Why are gas cylinders being sold at lower rates?
It's worth noting that this price reduction hasn't been implemented by oil marketing companies (OMCs). Commercial gas cylinders are being sold at a discount here because there's less demand for commercial cylinders in rural areas and small towns.
The 19-kg LPG cylinder is primarily used by restaurants, hotels, food stalls, sweet shops, and catering businesses, and demand from these sectors is high in smaller markets. This has led to some agencies having surplus stock, which is being sold at a discount to clear it.
No relief on domestic cylinders
There has been no change in the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder used in common households today. Its price is completely stable. Today, its price in Delhi is ₹944; in Mumbai, it is ₹941.50; in Kolkata, it is ₹968.50; and in Chennai, it is ₹947.50. There is also no change in the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in the country today. Its price in Delhi is ₹2,747.50.
