Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday took a jab at US intelligence, responding to US President Donald Trump 's statement that the Islamic Republic of Hormuz has complete control.

Iran's foreign minister repeatedly accused the US of intelligence failures and warned of a major misunderstanding or misjudgment regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Posting on X, Araghchi accused the US of repeatedly making wrong decisions due to intelligence failures.

He warned that Washington could make an even graver mistake regarding Hormuz, urging caution, saying that fake intelligence can be even more dangerous than fake news.

In his post, he wrote, "The US has long been making wrong decisions due to intelligence failures. The war with Iran is a prime example. Now, the even greater misunderstanding on the Strait of Hormuz is proof of this. Fake intelligence is worse than fake news. Be careful." Araghchi said, "Allah is great. Greater than any power on earth. We trust in Allah."

What did Trump say in his statement, to which Iran reacted?

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had stated that the US had complete control over Hormuz and would maintain it. He described the US Navy's deployment in the region as a "wall of steel," saying Iran had no capability to counter it.

Trump stated in his post that the United States has complete control over Hormuz. "I believe we will maintain it. Everyone is calling our naval blockade a wall of steel. Iran can't do anything about it." Trump also claimed that Iran's military infrastructure has been severely weakened. He concluded his message by invoking Allah. "They have fake news and 300 percent inflation. Iran is all talk, no action. They are no longer the grandfather of the Middle East."
