ED deputy director arrested red handed while taking bribe of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 5 crore to manage the case

CBI Arrested ED Officer: This bribery case is very high profile. In this case, a bribe of Rs 5 crore was demanded. The bribe was demanded not by any ordinary government employee but by the Deputy Director of the Central Investigation Agency Enforcement Directorate (ED). Whom the CBI arrested red handed. The case has come to light from Odisha. Where the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Chintan Raghuvanshi, Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Odisha, on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a businessman of Bhubaneswar. Officials gave this information on Friday.

5 crores were demanded from the mining businessman in ED case

Investigative agency officials said Chintan Raghuvanshi had allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore for getting him "relief" in an ED case registered against Dhenkanal stone mining businessman Ratikant Raut. Officials said the agency had received information that officials were about to receive the first tranche of the alleged bribe from Raut, following which the agency laid a trap on Thursday.

 

 

Called to office for questioning and then asked for bribe

According to the CBI FIR, Raut had approached the agency and complained that he was called for questioning at the ED office in Bhubaneswar in March this year. The FIR states that Raghuvanshi called him to his chamber and asked him to meet a person named Bhagti to get "relief" in the case.

After the conversation, he demanded a bribe of Rs 2 crore 

When Raut expressed his inability to raise such a huge amount, Bhagti put him in touch with Raghuvanshi, who reduced the demand to Rs 2 crore. He said Raghuvanshi, a 2013 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, was allegedly caught during the operation and later arrested after interrogation.
