Draupadi Murmu Bengal Visit: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that BJP has stooped to such a low level that it is using President Draupadi Murmu to defame West Bengal.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee hits back at President Draupadi Murmu
During President Draupadi Murmu's visit to Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee failed to receive her, a move that has now heated up the political landscape. The President referred to Murmu as her younger sister and expressed surprise at her failure to welcome her. The TMC chief sharply responded, "If President Murmu visits during the elections, it will be impossible for me to attend her events." She said, "If you come once a year, I can welcome you, but if you come during the elections, it will be impossible for me to attend your events because I am working for the rights of the people."
Don't do politics at the behest of BJP: Mamata
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP has stooped to such low levels that it is using President Draupadi Murmu to defame West Bengal. She said, "Honorable President, we respect you, but please do not play politics at the behest of the BJP during elections. Why was President Murmu silent when tribals were being oppressed in Manipur and other BJP-ruled states? You are unaware of the development work done for the tribals of West Bengal."
'The state government did not try to stop any programme'
Responding to President Draupadi Murmu's statement, the TMC chief said, "Before commenting on West Bengal, you should look at the situation in BJP-ruled states. It's not right to comment based solely on the views of one political party." She questioned why the President did not raise questions about alleged atrocities against tribals in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. She clarified that the state governments had not attempted to stop any events and had no connection to them.
The President never thought about minorities: Mamata
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "You (President Draupadi Murmu) never thought about minorities. You didn't say anything about Scheduled Castes, Buddhists, Punjabis, Parsis, Jains, or even Hindus. You know how to play politics. We don't know how to play politics. I will ask Derek O'Brien and Sudip Bandopadhyay (both Rajya Sabha MPs) to seek an appointment with Draupadi Murmu and present the work we have done for tribal people, especially the Santhals."
CM Mamata Banerjee said, "Why don't you protest when atrocities are committed against tribals? Why don't you protest when the same thing happens in Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh? First do something for them, then speak out. Don't play politics at the behest of the BJP during elections."
