Patiala court allows terrorist Jasir Bilal Wani to meet his lawyer
Terrorist Jaseer Bilal Wani has received relief from the Patiala House Court in the Delhi blasts case. The court has granted Jaseer permission to meet with his lawyer while in NIA custody. On Friday, the Delhi High Court had denied Jaseer Bilal relief in the same case, in which he had sought permission to meet with his lawyer at NIA headquarters. The High Court sent the matter back to the trial court for hearing.
The High Court rejected these arguments.
The High Court refused, stating that there was no compelling reason or record to grant such an order. Justice Swaran Kant Sharma heard the case. He stated that Vani had not produced any order in which the NIA had rejected her request. Consequently, the High Court declined to initiate any new proceedings.
During the hearing, the court stated that this was not a unique case. "We cannot accept anything based on mere verbal statements," it said. It insisted on following the established procedure in this case. It also refused to modify it for one of the accused. The case was sent back to the trial court, where it was to be heard.
NIA had told the conspirators
The investigating agency has identified Jasir Bilal Wani as an active co-conspirator of terrorist Umar Un Nabi. Wani is a resident of Kanjigund, Anantnag, Kashmir. He was arrested on November 17th. He is alleged to have been modifying drones and assisting terrorists. Previously, he was also attempting to build rockets. He had plotted the attack with suicide bomber Umar. The agency has clearly stated that Wani played a key role in planning and executing the attack.
