EPFO PF Passbook Lite:  Almost all employed people in the country have a PF account. A monthly salary is deducted and deposited into the PF account. However, checking your PF balance isn't easy. Logging in is often a hassle, sometimes because the portal's server is busy, or sometimes even because a message doesn't arrive. To address this issue, the EPFO has launched a new feature called Passbook Lite.

It will display PF balance details directly from the member portal. There's no need to log in or visit a separate passbook website. Complete balance and transaction details will be revealed in just a few simple steps. Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while launching the feature, said it will provide relief to millions of employees and simplify the PF checking process.

What is Passbook Lite?

The Passbook Lite feature provides an easy way for employees to check their PF balance. Members can now view their contributions, withdrawals, and total remaining balance directly on the EPFO portal. Previously, checking their PF passbook required logging into a separate portal, which was often difficult due to technical issues.

So, Passbook Lite is now the solution to this problem. The current Passbook portal will also see reduced load. With Passbook Lite, employees will be able to access their information directly without wasting time.

How can it be used?

To obtain Passbook Lite, you'll need to visit the EPFO's official website, www.epfindia.gov.in. Then, select Passbook Lite. After entering your UAN number, you'll receive an OTP on your mobile phone. Upon submitting the OTP, your PF passbook will open on your screen, displaying your balance and a complete transaction history. This process is quite simple. Checking your PF passbook used to be a lengthy process.

But this problem will no longer exist. The EPFO has also made the transfer certificate, or Annexure K, available on its member portal. Employees can now download it themselves in PDF format upon changing jobs. This will ensure transparency in the transfer and increase confidence that the PF balance and service period have been correctly transferred to the new account.
