BCCI's injury management has been exposed, with players getting injured in every series! Recovery fails!

In the T20 and ODI series against England, Team India's key players were caught in a web of injuries. These included not only fast bowlers but also spinners.

Why are Indian players getting injured after playing just one or two matches?

Team India's World Cup mission is now a year and a few months away, but it's difficult to say whether the key players will be fit enough to participate. Following the ODI series loss in England, Indian captain Shubman Gill expressed concern about the players' fitness.

Fitness questions ahead of England series

In the T20 and ODI series against England, Team India's key players were caught in a web of injuries. These included not only fast bowlers but also spinners. Fast bowler Harshit Rana, who had returned from injury, was ruled out of the ODI series due to a hamstring injury. Harshit had returned from a knee injury during the UK tour.

The same fate befell Varun Chakravarthy. He was injured in the third match of the T20 series against England and was ruled out of the series. Later, he was also given a break from the Zimbabwe tour. Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar was injured in the second ODI against England. Sundar was ruled out of the third ODI due to a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also missed the final match of the ODI series against England due to injury.

Injury before Afghanistan series

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was selected for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in June of this year. Hardik was cleared by the Bengaluru-based Center of Excellence, but the next day he was ruled out of the team due to back pain and remains out.

Earlier, during the IPL, Team India's fittest player, Virat Kohli , suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out of the Afghanistan series. However, Rohit Sharma was cleared by the COE and returned to the field against Afghanistan. Rohit also suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL.

Injury in Afghan series

Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy suffered a muscle injury during the third ODI of the Afghanistan series and was subsequently ruled out of the England tour. All-rounder Suryansh Shedge was included in Nitish's place. Nitish's injury streak continues.

Questions raised on COE

The consistent injuries sustained by the team's players have raised questions about the role of the Center of Excellence. Why, despite world-class facilities, is the COE's medical staff unable to properly manage players' injuries? How are young players getting injured in the very next series, even after receiving clearance certificates?

The biggest question is that most of the players on the injury list are young. Notably, most of them are suffering from hamstring injuries. Despite this, why is the COE not implementing a mechanism to track player injuries? It's clear that if this trend of injuries continues, the World Cup mission could be in jeopardy.
