India produced a double victory in the men's javelin event at the 2026 Asian Games on Monday. Yashveer Singh won the silver medal with a best throw of 85.72 meters. Rohit Yadav claimed the bronze with a throw of 84.35 meters. Rumesh Pathirage of Sri Lanka won the gold medal in the event, with a throw of 88.55 meters.

With a throw of 85.72 meters, Yashveer set a personal best. He achieved this feat in his sixth event, his final. He had started the event with a throw of 83.56 meters. It's noteworthy that Yashveer threw over 80 meters in all six attempts. It's worth noting that Yashveer had been selected for the Asian Games as a replacement for the injured Neeraj Chopra. He capitalized on this opportunity and won a silver medal for India.

Rohit Yadav did not have a good start.

Rohit Yadav's start wasn't particularly impressive. He threw 77.25 meters in his first attempt. He then threw the javelin well short of 80 meters in his remaining four attempts. His sixth and final attempt was ruled invalid. He had a best throw of 84.35 meters in his third attempt.

Pakistan is at fourth place

Arshad Nadeem competed for Pakistan in the event. Olympic gold medalist Arshad had a poor performance. He had a best throw of 80.29 meters. Only two of his six throws were valid, the rest were invalid. In his first attempt, Arshad threw the javelin 76.69 meters. Then, in his third attempt, he recorded a throw of 80.29 meters.
