Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has seen a significant drop in donations. The party reported ₹12.10 crore in donations to the Election Commission for 2025-26, a 68 percent decrease from the previous year.
According to AAP's donation report, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka donated ₹21,100 to the party. This donation was made during 2025-26, when he had not joined the CJP. Ranka has previously been an AAP spokesperson.
Who donated Rs 5 crore each?
Former party MP Rajinder Gupta's companies, Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited, donated ₹5 crore each to the AAP. Gupta was elected to the Rajya Sabha on an AAP ticket in October 2025. The Trident check for ₹5 crore was dated January 9, 2026, when Gupta was with the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP. He joined the BJP in April of this year.
The AAP reported donations of ₹38.10 crore in 2024-25, more than three times the ₹11.06 crore reported in 2023-24. Prudent was the largest donor in 2024-25, giving ₹16.40 crore.
Party chief Arvind Kejriwal made three donations of Rs 10,000 each. Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi made 12 payments of Rs 3,500 each, totalling Rs 42,000, while Punjab AAP president Aman Arora recorded 12 payments of Rs 10,000 each, totalling Rs 1.20 lakh.
How much donation did TDP receive?
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which came to power in Andhra Pradesh, reported donations of ₹58.25 crore for 2025-26, down from ₹83.03 crore the previous year. The YSR Congress Party, which lost power to the TDP, reported donations of ₹24.31 crore, down from approximately ₹140.04 crore in 2024-25. The Biju Janata Dal, which lost power in Odisha in 2024, did not report any donations exceeding ₹20,000 in its latest report. It reported ₹60 crore in 2024-25, all of which were received in April and May 2024, before the election results were announced.
