According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this new model could feature the A18 Pro chip instead of the traditional M-series processor used in recent iPhone models. This strategy could be the company's attempt to keep costs down while maintaining the macOS experience.

Potential specifications are expected to include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, similar to the current entry-level MacBook configuration. The screen is expected to be approximately a 12.9-inch LCD with a 60Hz refresh rate. This suggests that this model will focus on affordability and basic use rather than premium display features.

Colour options may also see changes. Youthful and vibrant options like blue, pink, and yellow are expected to be introduced alongside the traditional silver.

When can the launch happen?

Reports indicate that this MacBook could launch in the first half of 2026. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has also indicated that this could be Apple's flagship Mac launch at the beginning of the year, although the exact month is not yet clear.

What could be the price in India?

While the $599 price tag is making headlines, the actual price in India is likely to be higher. After import duties, GST, and other taxes are included, it could cost around ₹60,000 to ₹65,000. This would still be cheaper than the current MacBook Air and could make it easier for more people to afford an Apple laptop.

Some reports suggest a starting price of $699 or even $750. If this happens, the price could increase further in the Indian market, but it could still be available at a lower price than the MacBook Air.
