Vaibhav Suryavanshi started preparations

Young Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to make headlines. After making his international debut on the England tour, he performed brilliantly against Zimbabwe and is now ready for a new role in domestic cricket. Vaibhav will be part of the East Zone team in the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy, and the selectors have appointed him as vice-captain.

Vaibhav is sweating it out in the nets

Vaibhav has intensified his preparations ahead of the start of the new domestic season. He shared a practice video on social media, showing him batting in the nets. The young batsman worked on his defensive skills as well as his attacking shots. Accompanying the video, Vaibhav wrote just one word: "Preparation." This implies that his entire focus is on preparing himself for the upcoming challenge. Following his white-ball debut, Vaibhav has now shifted his focus to red-ball cricket.

 

Showed strength on Zimbabwe tour

Vaibhav had a stellar recent tour of Zimbabwe. He scored 151 runs in three T20 International innings and was the highest run-scorer in the series. His average was 50.33 and his strike rate was 196.10. He also scored 81 runs in one innings. His performance earned him the Player of the Series award. India also defeated Zimbabwe under the new T20 captaincy and won the series.

Made a big record at the age of 15

Vaibhav made his T20 International debut against England in Manchester at the age of just 15 years and 99 days. This made him the youngest Indian player to play international cricket. So far, Vaibhav has scored 193 runs in six T20 Internationals. His strike rate is 189.21, and he has also scored two half-centuries.

Got a big responsibility in the Duleep Trophy

East Zone has named Ishan Kishan as captain for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi as vice-captain. This responsibility marks another major milestone in their rapidly burgeoning careers.

The Duleep Trophy begins on August 23rd. East Zone will open their campaign against Northeast Zone. Vaibhav will be expected to showcase his batting prowess in the longer format as well.
