Adani is now ready to fight the bribery case in the US.

Gautam Adani: The US regulatory (SEC) proceedings against Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani have moved another step forward. Lawyers for the Adani side have agreed to accept the SEC's legal papers.

Now the battle will be face-to-face. Adani's lawyer has agreed to fight the bribery case in America.

Gautam Adani: Shares of Adani Group companies are going to be in focus in the coming times, as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has made all arrangements to prosecute Gautam Adani for civil fraud.

A petition filed on Friday in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, said lawyers representing Adani have agreed to accept legal papers from the SEC, saving US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis from having to decide how to serve notices to the defendants.

Response must be given within 90 days.

The notice is in connection with a civil fraud lawsuit in which he is accused of misleading investors through a bribery scheme. If the judge grants the motion, Gautam Adani and his nephew will have 90 days to respond to the SEC's complaint, which could include a request to dismiss the case. However, Gautam Adani's attorney, Robert Giuffra, and Sagar Adani's attorney, Sean Hecker, declined to comment.

Giuffra, who represented Gautam Adani, is no ordinary lawyer. He is currently representing Donald Trump in a case challenging his criminal conviction. He has also represented Volkswagen and Goldman Sachs, leading them to victory. He was awarded the Securities Litigator of the Year award in 2025.

What is the matter?

In November 2024, the SEC charged Adani with violating US securities laws. He was accused of deceiving US investors and banks to obtain renewable energy projects in India and then planning to use the money to bribe government officials. The amount was approximately $250 million, or approximately Rs 2,029 crore. The SEC cited difficulties in serving legal documents, so last week the SEC requested a US judge to allow it to serve summons to Adani via email or other lawyers.
