India vs South Africa (Semi-final, 2002)
Virender Sehwag was famous for his explosive batting, but in this semi-final match between India and South Africa, he showed his spin bowling skills. On the basis of Sehwag's 59 runs and Yuvraj Singh's 62 runs, India scored 261 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Herschelle Gibbs scored 116 runs and Jacques Kallis played a brilliant innings of 97 runs for South Africa and put their team in a strong position. But after Gibbs retired hurt, South Africa's innings faltered and then Sehwag brought India back into the match by dismissing Kallis, Mark Boucher and Lance Klusener. At one time the score was 191 runs for the loss of 1 wicket and South Africa could only reach 251 runs after losing 6 wickets and India won the match by 10 runs. In the final, India faced Sri Lanka, but due to the game not being completed due to rain, both were declared joint winners.
England vs West Indies (Final, 2004)
Champions Trophy 2024 final at The Oval, England was on the verge of winning its first ICC tournament. England scored 217 runs on the back of Marcus Trescothick's 104-run innings. After this, England's bowlers showed amazing performance and at one time West Indies' score was 147 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and needed 81 runs to win. It seemed that England would win the trophy easily. But fate had something else in store, Courtney Brown (35 not out) and Ian Bradshaw (35 not out) made an unbroken partnership of 71 runs for the ninth wicket and gave West Indies a memorable victory with seven balls to spare.
South Africa vs England (2009)
In the group stage match at the Centurion ground, England scored a mammoth score of 323 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, in which Owais Shah (98), Paul Collingwood (82) and Eoin Morgan (67) played brilliant innings. In reply, South African captain Graeme Smith scored an excellent 141 runs, but could not take the team across the threshold of victory. South Africa could only reach 301 runs after losing 9 wickets and England won the match by 22 runs. James Anderson and Stuart Broad took 3-3 wickets for England and played an important role in helping England win and reach the knockout stage.
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka (2013)
This low scoring match played in Cardiff tested the courage and patience of both the teams. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first but were bowled out for 138 runs, with Kumar Sangakkara scoring 68. Fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan took 4 wickets for 43 runs and put New Zealand in a strong position. But the Kiwi team, which came out to chase the runs, was in a bad shape when more than half the team returned to the pavilion with a total score of 80 runs. But Nathan McCullum's patient innings of 32 runs helped New Zealand win with 1 wicket to spare and made it one of the most exciting matches in the history of the Champions Trophy.
India vs Pakistan (2017)
The final match played between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at The Oval saw a lot of drama. The Indian team was in excellent form and had defeated Pakistan in the group stage. Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 114 runs after getting a lifeline from Jasprit Bumrah's no ball, due to which Pakistan scored a huge score of 338 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Mohammad Aamir wreaked havoc with his fast bowling on the Indian team that came out to chase the runs, he pushed India on the backfoot in the beginning by dismissing Rohit Sharma (0), Shikhar Dhawan (21) and captain Virat Kohli (5) cheaply. Due to which the Indian team was all out for just 158 runs, in which Hardik Pandya scored 76 runs. Pakistan won the Champions Trophy for the first time by winning by a huge margin of 180 runs. This was the third time Pakistan won an ICC tournament after the 1992 ODI World Cup and the 2009 T20 World Cup.
