Shapoor Zadran: Shapoor Zadran from Afghanistan is fighting for his life in Delhi. His infection has spread to his brain.

Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran is fighting for his life in a Delhi hospital. The 6-foot-2-inch-tall Shapoor is admitted to the ICU. He is suffering from a rare and life-threatening disease called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, which weakens the immune system. The Afghan player's condition is critical. The infection has spread to his brain. He is also rapidly losing weight and has almost lost his speech.
Shapoor came to Delhi for treatment in January. He is now suffering from stage 4 HLH. He first developed the condition in October last year. Shapoor's younger brother, Ghamai Zadran, said that it was then that doctors in Afghanistan advised him to go to India for treatment.
Infection spread to the brain
According to ESPNcricinfo, Ghamai Zadran said that Shapoor's infection had spread to his brain, which was detected after an MRI and CT scan. He also suspected tuberculosis.
Shapoor was initially discharged from the hospital. However, after about 20 days, he experienced complications again and had to be hospitalized. He was discharged once again, but another 20 days later, the Afghan cricketer was rushed to the hospital. This time, his condition worsened, and he tested positive for dengue. During Ramadan, Shapoor underwent a bone marrow test, which revealed that he had reached the fourth stage of HLH.
Weight started decreasing, and conversation also stopped.
Shapur's brother said that he no longer has much life left in him. He has lost about 14 kilograms. He can barely speak. Communication has almost stopped.
Steroids improve the condition.
His brother said that Shapoor Zadran is the eldest in the family – he has four brothers and six sisters – and has been the head of the family for a long time. We hope his condition will improve day by day. The steroids Shapoor has recently been given seem to be effective and this gives us hope.
