Hardik Pandya Fined: Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya's anger during the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders proved costly. The BCCI has fined him.

Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined 10% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials. Hardik angrily knocked down the bails after a dropped catch and a four during Wednesday's match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In a statement, the BCCI stated that Hardik Pandya was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to improper use of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match. Hardik had struck the wicket bails while returning to his run-up.

Why was Hardik Pandya angry?

In the 10th over of Kolkata Knight Riders' innings, Hardik became extremely angry with his team's fielding. Rovman Powell fired a shot in the air on the second ball of the over, which would have been an easy catch at deep backward square leg. However, confusion between Deepak Chahar and Robin Minz resulted in a missed catch. Chahar actually took the catch, but he didn't try, assuming Minz would take it. Manish Pandey hit a four off the next ball. Pandey hit another four off the fourth ball of the same over, angering captain Hardik.

Hardik Pandya admitted his mistake and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee. It's worth noting that Hardik had missed the last few matches due to injury. Mumbai Indians have already been eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoff race.

Mumbai Indians lost by 4 wickets.

Mumbai Indians' top order disappointed once again, with Ryan Rickelton making 6 and Rohit Sharma making 15. Naman Dheer failed to open his account, and Suryakumar Yadav once again failed, scoring 15. Tilak Varma made 20 and Hardik Pandya 26. Finally, Corbin Bosch made 32 off 18 balls to take Mumbai to 147.

Chasing the target, Manish Pandey played a crucial innings of 45 runs from 33 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. He was batting for the first time this year. Rovman Powell scored 40 runs from 30 balls, hitting two sixes and four fours. Kolkata won by four wickets with seven balls to spare.
