FIFA World Cup 2026: Argentina to face Spain in FIFA World Cup final on July 19

Two teams have reached the final stage of their FIFA World Cup title race. Spain and Argentina have already reached the final. Riding on a magical performance from Lionel Messi, defending champions Argentina defeated England 2-1 in the second semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.

They will now face Spain for the title on July 19th. Argentina trailed 0-1 for 85 minutes before scoring two goals in the final seven minutes to secure a thrilling victory. Anthony Gordon's 48th-minute goal in Atlanta put England on course for the final, but Lionel Messi's stellar performance followed.

Messi's short corner was converted by Enzo Fernandez with a superb goal from 25 yards to equalize the score. Then, in the second minute of injury time, substitute Lautaro Martinez scored a perfect header from Messi's cross to seal the victory for his team. Argentina thus reached their seventh World Cup final.
