EPS Pension: Employees working in the government or private sector are certainly aware of the EPFO. Under this scheme, there is also the EPS, a pension plan that is useful after retirement. This allows you to maintain a level playing field without significant lifestyle changes even after retirement. Currently, the minimum pension under this scheme is ₹1,000 and the maximum ₹7,500. However, there has been talk of increasing this amount for quite some time. Now, a statement has been issued by the government regarding this.

Parliament
is currently in the Monsoon Session, where numerous public-facing issues are being discussed. The issue of increasing employees' EPS contributions is also being discussed. When this issue was raised in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje responded, stating that several stakeholders have demanded an increase in pensions, but no decision has been made on this matter.

The sustainability of the pension fund will need to be considered.
Minister Shobha also stated that the government is providing budgetary support to ensure a minimum pension of ₹1,000 per month for EPS-95 pensioners. Furthermore, the government is committed to strengthening social security coverage for EPFO members, but any decision must take into account the sustainability of the pension fund and future liabilities.

What were the organizations' demands?
It's worth noting that many stakeholders, including trade unions and public representatives, have repeatedly demanded that the government increase the minimum PF pension from ₹1,000 to ₹7,500. Pensioners believe that receiving a mere ₹1,000 as pension is of no benefit. It makes it extremely difficult to meet expenses.
